How to Up Here this year: Let's keep each other safe

Up Here is back, and we couldn’t be more excited, but that doesn’t mean everything’s back to normal quite yet (although we have high hopes for 2022!)

Our biggest priority this year is keeping each other safe. With a fourth wave of COVID-19 currently underway, it’s more important than ever that we make sure we’re still masking up, practicing social distancing, and conducting contact tracing. We have protocols in place to help this all happen, so please read on for all the details!

The festival is free—but there is a limit! It will be first-come, first-served.

In order to make the festival as accessible as possible during a year of serious challenges, all the programming this year is completely free of charge (but donations are welcome!) However, we will be operating at a limited capacity, as per the official regulations, so while we’re optimistic there will be plenty of room… if you’re really keen to see a show, be aware it’s first-come, first-served, and maybe come a little early.

The festival is all-ages, attendees 19+ will get a wristband for the bar.

There will be alcohol served on-site, but this is an all-ages event! People who want to have a drink and are 19 or over can get a wristband on entering.

You’ll need to self-screen beforehand or when you arrive, and we’ll be conducting contact tracing.

To maximize everyone’s safety, we are requiring that all attendees either self-screen before arriving via our Contact Tracing & COVID-19 Screening page within 1 hour of arrival at Up Here Square, or self-screen using the QR code at either of the entrances to the festival grounds. Those without cellphones can be screened by one of our volunteers on arrival. The screening process will take note of your name and contact information so we can get in touch in the event there are any potential exposures to COVID-19 during the festival! All information remains private.

Masks are required some of the time.

While it’s OK to hang out without your mask if you’re with your household or social bubble, we’re asking people to wear masks in these situations: upon arrival, departure, when moving around on site, and at the entrances in general; in some indoor art installations on Cedar Street, or closer spaces; at the bar; when moving around; and when it’s not possible to socially distance. There will be ample signage on-site to remind you of this.

Bottom line: When in doubt, mask up. Don’t be a jerk. Respect each other.

Anyone who does not respect these rules will be asked to leave immediately.

Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

You know how much we love Pop-Ups! We have teamed up with Public Health Sudbury & Districts to have a Pop-Up Vaccination Clinic on-site from 3:30 to 8:30 pm on Saturday, August 21.

Anyone born in 2009 or earlier (must be turning 12 this calendar year) is eligible to get their first or second dose. If you aren’t yet fully vaccinated, we strongly encourage you to do so.

Don’t forget to download the Up Here official app (on your Apple or Android device) to stay up-to-date on surprise performances and important announcements!
