Artist Statement
Horangi is inspired by Korean folk art and the natural world, bringing together traditional imagery and imagined landscapes. Horangi is a Korean tiger wearing a traditional Korean hat (gat), a playful symbol drawn from Korea’s rich visual and cultural heritage.
June
Jieun Kim (aka June) draws inspiration from Korean folk arts and the natural world to create imagined landscapes in her work. With international exhibitions and a focus on community, she co-founded KJ Bit Collective, fostering collaboration through murals and local street art events.
Jieun Kim (alias June) s’inspire de l’art populaire coréen et de la nature pour créer les paysages imaginaires qu’on trouve dans ses œuvres. Centré sur sa communauté, le KJ Bit Collective, dont elle est cofondatrice, encourage la collaboration par l’entremise de murales et d’événements locaux des arts de la rue.
