Artist Statement
This painting views colonization through Indigenous futurism. The alien creature slays the astronaut, not allowing him to go back to earth to tell of his finding's. It contains a reference of the residential school system and what Indigenous cultures experienced across the world. The astronaut’s spirit returns to the Creator (orb) and realizes he was not living his life with respect, love and kindness.
