Artist Statement

This must be the place—here, there, nowhere, anywhere. My mural isn’t about getting anywhere in particular. I’ve always felt pressed by existential questions of “what are we doing?”or “where are we going?” I propose the answer is a blissful surrender to our dreams as the leading force of our lives. We can accept that it is this journey we are led on, rather than the destination itself, that has to be enough.

My work reflects equally upon various aspects of life—the joys and grievances, the growth and setbacks—and recognizes a common thread of hope that stitches us all together. The star as a symbol of hope, beacons as a guide towards what you may dream of. Amidst all of the wildly absurd, wondrous chaos in this life, there will always be that light that we may dance towards together as radical acceptance of our belonging and growth.

Miraculous in our existence, we must celebrate this continuous metamorphosis. By releasing expectations, we arrive at ourselves every time through each change. May we parade together through the journey of life, only reaching the destination or meaning by accepting the here and now.
