Artist Statement
The theme for Up Here 8’s was "Of Time" so we created a piece representing life’s journey. The moose is painted as symbol of sustenance because it provides food and clothing. The black bear is the guide to the spirit world so for this painting it is included to represent the end of this life’s journey and the beginning of the next.
Born in the North
Born in the North is a creative studio owned and operated by twin brothers, Chris and Greg Mitchell. Their work is created through their own unique lens and is focused on examining the relationship between humans and nature. Taking into account their own story and lived experiences, inspiration is drawn from their Mi’kmaq heritage, music exploration, and Canadian upbringing. Invited by guest-curator Anong Beam.
