A celebration of childhood in Northern Ontario, this mural represents imaginative play, testing your limits, and gaining independence. A washed-out palette evokes a quiet sense of nostalgia and reflects on how a child’s landscape can shape their sense of identity.

Laura Peturson

Laura Peturson’s practice is primarily rooted in printmaking with an emphasis on relief, screenprint, and papercut processes. Her work is narrative in nature, and draws upon archetypes from children’s literature. Her work captures an experience of childhood as it relates to place: Place as geography, place within a family structure, and the interiority that forms one’s sense of identity. Laura is based in Callander, Ontario and teaches printmaking, painting and drawing at Nipissing University.
