Mique is a Métis Franco-Ontarian graffiti artist whose nomadic journeys have led her to create colourful murals from Northern Ontario to France. Woodlands style meets spray can art, Mique’s bold and bright creatures are borrowed from traditional legends and myths. This mural of a Great Blue Heron is a tribute to Mique’s connection to the Sturgeon River and Muskasung Lake, and an expression of gratitude for Canada’s lakes and rivers.

A Franco-Ontarian from Field, Mique’s nomadic journeys has allowed her to exercise her graffiti from northern Ontario to France. Through her travels and studies at the Ottawa School of Art, the Métis Anishinaabe artist has evolved as a mixed media artist and active facilitator of the arts in Ottawa. Her work can be seen in galleries, public buildings, and outdoor venues. Mique remains a strong advocate for indigenous issues and abolishing negative perceptions of graffiti.
